ATHENS, Ga. -- Dennis Felton, who last season led Georgia's basketball program to an improbable SEC tournament championship, was fired by athletics director Damon Evans on Thursday morning, multiple sources close to the situation told ESPN.com.
Evans' decision came after the Bulldogs lost to Florida 83-57 on Wednesday night, their seventh consecutive defeat. Georgia is 9-11 and 0-5 in SEC play. The school has scheduled an 11 a.m. ET news conference to announce the firing. Felton had an 84-91 record in six seasons at Georgia, including a 26-59 mark against SEC opponents. Evans seemed poised to fire Felton a year ago, but the Bulldogs won three games in two days to win the SEC tournament. Georgia was forced to play a condensed schedule after Atlanta's Georgia Dome was damaged by a tornado. By winning the SEC tournament, Georgia won an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament, its only appearance on college basketball's biggest stage during Felton's tenure. The No. 14-seeded Bulldogs lost to No. 3 seed Xavier 76-61 in the first round. Felton inherited a Georgia program that had been crippled by NCAA sanctions. He succeeded Jim Harrick in 2003 after Harrick was fired following the discovery of academic fraud and other NCAA rules violations.Superbowl Weekend and Birthday Weekend!!!!

Best player in the league? That's for NBA nation to argue, but there's no debate that, when it comes to NBA merchandise, Kobe Bryant has the most popular player jersey. Bryant, the Los Angeles Lakers' 11-time All-Star, regained the top spot on the NBA's list, bumping 2008 No. 1 Kevin Garnett of the Boston Celtics to second. Bryant had the most popular jersey in 2007. The Lakers are a Western Conference-best 35-9 this season.
The league's rankings are based on sales at the NBA Store in New York City and NBAStore.com since the start of the 2008-09 season through January 2009. Two seasons ago, Bryant changed from No. 8 to No. 24. The switch probably had a lot to do with his moving up from fourth to first in jersey sales.
LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers held the No. 3 spot on the list for the second consecutive season. Chris Paul of the New Orleans and Allen Iverson of the Detroit Pistons held the fourth and fifth spots. Pau Gasol, Bryant's teammate, shot up to No. 6 on the list, up from 15th a year ago.
According to a league press release Tuesday, December was the best sales month in history for both the NBA Store and NBAStore.com, with combined sales up 10 percent over the same time period last year.

In recent years it’s become a tradition for Nike to drop holiday inspired kicks, sometimes they only show up in grade school sizes, sometimes everyone gets a chance at them. The latest holiday drop is for the ladies, Nike Womens Air Force 2 Valentine’s Day edition’s have begun to hit Nike retailers.
Not sure how the skull graphics represent Cupid’s Holiday, but the red, white and gold colorway definitely does a good job at it. These high top’s should definitely sit well on the feet of the ladies, or for the fellas maybe even make a nice gift for the special girl in your life. At 12,000 Yen that’s only about $130, not a bad price, and it might even help the guys seem like the helpless romantic your girl has been wanting.
Just don’t be buying them in a bigger size than hers so you can rock them, that won’t go over well.

On October 27, 2005 Jay was also joined by the Lox, Diddy, Sauce Money, LeBron James, Kanye West, T.I., Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Swizz Beats, Akon, Peedi Peedi (formerly known as Peedi Crakk), GLC, Ne-Yo and Tiearra Mari. As he had previously "declared war" on other artists taking lyrical shots at him at other events, many believed that the Powerhouse show would represent an all-out assault by Jay-Z upon his rivals. However, an anticipated response to subliminal shots taken by The Game and Cam'ron never materialized. At the conclusion of the concert, Jay-Z put many arguments to rest to the surprise of hip-hop fans. Instead of declaring war, he declared that he was the "United Nations of this rap sh*t". The most significant development in this show was closure to the infamous hip hop rivalry between Jay-Z and Nas. The two former rivals shook hands and shared the stage together to perform Jay-Z's "Dead Presidents" blended with Nas's song "The World is Yours" from which "Dead Presidents" had sampled the vocals on the chorus. Nas's verses were rapped over the "Dead Presidents" beat in the vein of a mix song done by DJ Statik Selektah. Nas also performed songs of his own later in the show.
